2 Dead And 3 Injured In Lake Austin Boating Accident In TexasA boating accident that took place in Lake Austin, Texas, left two people dead and three injured, according to the authorities

The division chief of Austin Fire Department, Palmer Buck, said that the incident occurred early Sunday, when the boat rammed an object, believed to be a barge, causing it to sink.

50-year-old Shawn Hurwitz, head of an investment firm in Houston, was among the deceased. Two men and two women were on board with Hurwitz, who was steering the boat. After the crash, one person was pronounced dead at the accident spot, whereas another was pronounced dead at the hospital. The remaining three suffered some injuries but they were not life-threatening.

Investigators reported that only one person on the boat was wearing a life jacket. Although it is not yet clear what caused the accident, a camper at Emma Long Metropolitan Park witnessed the whole incident.

“He had his bow light on, music real loud, and he had the boat at full speed,” reported Butch Vander-Woude, the camper who saw the incident.
