UVALDE, Texas – On Wednesday, 12 individuals, who were riding a minibus, died in a two-vehicle accident that happened in the Texas Hill Country.

The Facebook page of the Church showed that the bus was taking back congregants of the First Baptist Church in New Braunfels from a retreat. A large white pickup collided with the front left side of the bus.

The bus was going from Alto Frio Baptist Encampment in Leakey when it collided near Garner State Park.

According to Sgt. Conrad Hein, 3 others sustained injuries in the accident in which the person behind the wheel of the pickup was also involved.

Motorist Rick Ballesteros said about the accident, “It was a really gruesome scene.”

Church volunteer, Lisa Crider, told that they don’t know the exact number of individuals travelling in the bus. “We are here waiting to find out any news.”

The church events that were to be held on Wednesday night were cancelled. Church officials said, “We are ministering to family members to help them deal with this tragedy. Counselors will be on hand at the church tomorrow. If you’re a Christian, you can pray for those who lost their loved ones and for the church family.”

The driver of the pickup caused the accident, so the police is investigating the case.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent his condolences to the victims’ families. He said, “We are saddened by the loss of life and our hearts go out to all those affected.”
