LUBBOCK, TX – On Saturday afternoon, 2 individuals died in a three-vehicle crash that happened in West Lubbock according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Three pickup trucks of red, black and white colors were involved in the crash that happened at about 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 179 and County Road 6520, told DPS.

Gonzalez reported that the black and white trucks were going northbound on FM 179. The black truck tried to pass while the white truck was trying to turn onto CR 6520 when they both collided. The red pickup truck that was pulling a trailer was travelling southbound on FM 179 and crashed head-on in the black pickup truck.

One individual died at the accident spot and the other died later at University Medical Center. 43-year-old Ray Peterson and 52-year-old Daniel Sandoval died in the crash. Sandoval was behind the wheel of the red pickup and Peterson was driving the black pickup truck.

2 passengers travelling in the red truck also sustained injuries in the crash and were rushed to the hospital. Both are in stable condition now. 2 adults and 3 kids travelling in the white pickup truck sustained non-life threatening injuries.

For assistance, the Lubbock Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the West Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident scene.
