16-year-old Kaitlyn Hughes of Weatherford was killed Friday when the vehicle she was driving failed to negotiate a curve and struck a 2017 Toyota Tundra going northbound, head-on.

The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. Friday, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded shortly after.

Hughes was driving a 2000 Audi A6 south on Upper Denton Road when she crashed with the Toyota Tundra head-on. She was flown to a Fort Worth hospital by air ambulance where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra, identified as 67-year-old Phillip King, and a passenger in the Audi, identified as 17-year-old Tatum Kellerman, were both transported to a Fort Worth hospital by ground ambulance.

The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
