Former Dentist Indicted In Texas After Injuring 4-Year-Old Patient
Bethaniel Jefferson, a former dentist, was indicted Monday for causing serious bodily injury to a 4-year-old patient.
According to reports, the dentist failed to provide the necessary medical attention needed by the child who suffered a seizure, leading to permanent brain damage.
Harris County prosecutors alleged that the child was given sedatives during a visit of the dentist’s office in January 2016. As a result, the child suffered seizure and hypoxia. Such a condition is often marked by a lack of oxygen to the body.
It is stated that Jefferson waited more than four hours before calling medical help to treat the girl.
Jefferson was previously reprimanded in 2005 and 2012 by the Texas Board of Dental Examiners. Her license was revoked in November by the board.
No record of a public phone listing for Jefferson could be found.
