Texas Accident Leaves Lewis-Mcchord Family Of 3 Dead

TACOMA, Wash. – According to the authorities, a Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier and his family died in a highway crash that occurred in Texas.

A report by the Tacoma News Tribune showed that the Texas Department of Public Safety said Sgt. Brandon Cummings, his wife Vanessa and their 10-month-old son were killed on Sunday in an accident.

The family lived in Lakewood, Washington. They were killed when a tractor-trailer, driven by Jorge Alberto Contreras, drifted across Interstate 40 in north Texas around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday and struck the family’s vehicle.

According to a spokeswoman for Cummings’ unit, his command was planning a memorial so soldiers on base can pay respects to the family with a local service.

Cummings was a military police officer assigned to JBLM’s 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command. He had given his serves in Afghanistan and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
